Hand-arm vibration (HAV) is a widespread hazard for employees in many industries and occupations, particularly for seafarers working on board ships.

This new guidance outlines the duties of employers under the Merchant Shipping and Fishing Vessels (Control of Vibration at Work) Regulations 2007 as they relate specifically to HAV. It covers: management and control of risk from HAV health surveillance how to estimate and measure vibration prevention and management of diseases and symptoms such as carpal tunnel syndrome, white finger, joint pain, numbness and tingling.

Product Details: The relevant text from the Vibration Regulations is set out in full with practical guidance underneath. Key points are highlighted, together with case studies and worked examples. If employers comply with the Vibration Regulations and follow the Maritime and Coastguard Agency?s guidance, employees are unlikely to develop advanced (disabling) stages of disease.

This guidance is also aimed at people who advise employers, such as health and safety professionals, vibration specialists and occupational health professionals.
